In December of 2011, the TOSS board appointed a committee to review the status of our website. The committee’s charge was to critique the site and bring recommendations back to the board for approval and implementation. Thus, at our next board meeting the committee report was accepted and given to Ms. Benefield and me to implement.
I immediately turned to one of the organization’s partners: PowerIT. PowerIT is a partner of several our sister organizations and a partner of AASA. PowerIT is a veteran in designing websites and brings many new ideas to us for our design.
As you review our website, I am hopeful that you will see many positive changes. All the recommendations approved by the board have been added to our website. The twitter feature is new, not only to the website, but to me. The twitter account has given me lots of anxiety. However, I now have an account, and it is my goal that I will master the concept and be able to twitter to you from legislative plaza as the committees discuss educational bills.
It has been a journey for our staff and me that started in January. Since January we have added Kathy Jordan as part-time staff. One of her many responsibilities is to update the website each week with new information. She and Ms. Benefield have been instrumental in the constructing and implementing the changes by the March deadline. Both have been trained to add and delete items from the website and to develop forms and new pages for our site.
The journey has now ended, and it is my pleasure to introduce to you the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents’ new website. As you navigate its many links, please inform me of your likes and dislikes for the new site. I promise that I shall improve or eliminate any features of the website that does not meet your needs. It is the board and my desire for our website to be user friendly and informational for you and others that may visit.
Sincerely,
Keith Brewer
TOSS Executive Director
