The Superintendent of the Year is awarded to the superintendent who has demonstrated all around outstanding leadership. Tennessee's Superintendent of the Year goes on to represent Tennessee in the National Superintendent of the Year award program administered by AASA. Tennessee's 2012 Superintendent of the Year

Dr. Kathleen Airhart is the 2012 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year.  

Dr. Airhart represented the Upper-Cumberland Superintendents Study Council.  Dr. Airhart has served as Director of Schools in Putnam County since 2007.  Prior to this, Dr. Airhart served as supervisor for special education, compliance specialist, and transition coordinator in Putnam County.  Dr. Airhart is a member of TSBA, AASA, TOSS, Superintendents E-Network and also is on the advisory council for Education Networks of America.  She also serves as the AGAPE Preschool Advisory Board Chair, WCTE Public Television Board of Directors, TTU STEM Center Advisory Committee, Highlands Workforce Development and Education Advisory Chair, and the Tennessee Vocational Training Center Board of Directors.
