Mr. Johnny McDaniel – Bradley County Schools
In his first year as director of Bradley County Schools in 2008, Johnny implemented an Academy Model for the system. The Freshman Academy has proven successful and this year the concept has been expanded so that Bradley County H.S. will be the first school in the state to implement the Cambridge Model. Walker H.S. is implementing a thematic academy model which incorporates a Freshman Academy with humanities, business and STEM Academies. The alternative high school has become a hybrid high school to meet specific needs of at-risk students.
Johnny has also led in the construction of a STEM laboratory in a new elementary school and the development of a system-wide Coordinated School Health Program which includes a mobile health clinic as well as walking tracks at all of the district’s schools.
